I Create Simple Web Pages Have the
textbook Appendix D handy for technical help in completing
this exercise and review the
web walkthru video.
- (10 points) Create a web page using
Word.
- Follow the guidance in the App D-5 to create a page
containing a paragraph of text describing your
experience to date developing web pages. If you save
this document as html in your campus Z:\www
folder with the name webdevexp.htm it will now
be accessible (to anyone) via the internet at http://jaguar.aug.edu/{StuID}/webdevexp.htm
where {StuID} is replaced by your login. Save your file
and submit through your MIS lab
- (10 points) Create a realistic web
page. Follow the guidance in section App D-8 to create a
site using Microsoft Expression Web (this is available on
Hull lab computers or you can download this product from our
MSDNAA page) but
include the following adjustments:
- Make the page about you (your title is MIS Student);
- Include a picture either using one you have or one
you find somewhere on the web;
- Instead of a link to The Author's Official Web Site
include a link to MINF3650 Course Site (where the url is
http://hull.aug.edu/bschmidt/MISWEBSITE/MINF3650-homepage;
- Keep the link to the MIS lab we used this term.
- Instead of a link to The Handbook of Information
Technology include a link to a book you like on
amazon.com;
- Instead of a link to The Author's Resume include a
link named My Web Dev Experience which links to the
webdevexp.htm from exercise above;
- If you save this web page as html in your
campus Z:\www folder with the name default.htm
it will now be accessible (to anyone) via the internet
at http://jaguar.aug.edu/{StuID}/ where {StuID} is
replaced by your login. Save your file and submit
through your MIS lab.
II (5 pts) OSI Model Review background
materials
OSI Model,
Wikepedia's OSI Article, and the video
OSI Model: Using Open Systems Interconnection to Send and
Receive Data.
Using a common communications situation (e.g., a web browsing
session or a cell phone call or even something non-electronic
like talking to a pet or knocking on a door) as an example,
illustrate what is occurring at four levels (you choose the
levels) of Open Systems Interconnection Model during the
communications. This should be a simple document of a few
sentences. Save as a word document and submit through your MIS
lab.
III (5 pts) Suppose we want to set up a
PayPal account so we can receive money online (e.g., for
TeleCloud). What would we need to do? How much would it cost
(getting started, for each transaction)? This should be a simple
document of a few sentences. Save as a word document and submit
through your MIS lab. Hint: Use
a web search or nose around the PayPal site ... they make this
easy to find!
