Principles of
Chemistry II
Chemistry 1212
Spring 2018
Announcements:
Countdown: 1 more class +
final exam
Final Exam is Thursday May 3 at 8 am. It is a
traditional ACS standardized exam only (110 minutes long). This means the ACS study guide is
representative of the type of questions.
Summer School options: If you only need one organic class for your major,
consider CHEM 2410 which is being offered the first 5 weeks of summer school. A kinder, gentler organic it actually gets to
interesting things because it is designed for one term. This class won’t be offered in the Fall. If you prefer
the evilest version of organic, both terms (CHEM 3411 and 3412) will also be
offered in the summer. It’s a lot to
learn in 10 weeks, but it will be a taste of the pace of medical school if you
want to see if you are up for that challenge. By the way, “evil” refers to the pacing, not
the course itself.
Myers office hours

Homework
Homework is posted
by the date it is due. All homework is due at the scheduled class start
time on the date sited; homework turned in even one minute after the hour or
thereafter is late and will not be accepted. If possible, complete the
homework using one sheet of paper. If that is not possible all pages must
be STAPLED together. If any other form of attachment is used,
the homework will not be graded. Include your name on each assignment.
Homework without a name will NOT be graded.
Note: we have a new textbook. Tables sited should be in your text, but will have
different numbers. Use your table of
contents or index to find it
We are done. Semester is over. Use the ACS study guide to
prepare for your final exam.
There are also reading assignments and
homework due in Top Hat. This is to help you keep pace with the
course. Do a little every day, do not
wait until the evening before!!! It is not designed for that.
You should have bought a one year ($60) subscription in
CHEM 1211, if so your login and password will work for this course. If you only got one semester or have not yet
signed up, you will need to purchase again.

Next reading due: Chapter 16—Friday April 27 at 9 am
The homework for this chapter and
both the reading and homework for Chapter 18 are set to “Review” so that you
can use it, but I am not going to bother to grade it.
Why yes, old information does disappear to reduce website clutter. If you wish to keep old homeworks
to study—make a hard copy. Find some
friends who do the same in case you miss one.
I do not keep lists of homework assignments, just pull from (or add to)
my collection.

Things you should have memorized in
CHEM 1211
Dr. Spencer put together this
study guide. It contains: study advice, reading guides (previews) and practice
problems (reviews). It’s still in its
“beta test” version, so feedback is appreciated. WARNING! This guide
is for the entire semester. It is nearly
100 pages. Think about that before you
hit “Print.” Maybe you just want
relevant pages or to just view on-line….
